Block Parent:

Job Purpose:

Do you want to get involved with the community, but simply do not have the time? Then this is a great opportunity for you! As a Block Parent you will be able to help keep your neighbourhood safe from the comfort of your own home. Simply display your Block Parent sign in a front window to help a member of your community in a time of crisis. Help us keep our neighbourhoods safe, One Block At A Time!

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help deter crime by displaying your sign
  • Offer to assist children, youth, and seniors in case of an emergency
  • Complete a free Police Record Check for everyone in your home over the age of 12 years

Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Work Without Supervision
  • Confidentiality

Time Commitment:

Time requirement is as per your availability. Simply put your sign in the window when you are available



Events Committee Volunteer:

Job Purpose:

The Events Committee Volunteers will provide support in the planning and implementing of Special Events activities with the goal of raising the profile of the Waterloo Regional Block Parent Program and developing fundraising opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the event coordinator in planning, preparation and execution of Special Events
  • Work with the public promoting the Block Parent Program

Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Organizational skills
  • Creativity
  • Resourcefulness

Time Commitment:

6 ‐ 12 months

Fixed Time:
Special Events meetings are held at pre-determined times, convenient for all members in the Committee. Flexible Time: For Special Events related tasks, approximately three hours per month, varying according to personal preference, with an increase of hours as the event nears.



Director at large:

Job Purpose:

Are you interested in keeping the Waterloo Region safe? Do you enjoy working on a team and sharing your thoughts with like-minded individuals? Then this is a great opportunity for you! The Waterloo Regional Block Parent Program is currently seeking a hardworking individual to sit on the Board of Directors. This position requires an individual to actively attend all board meetings to help make important decisions, and discuss board related issues and relevant topics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet with the board from 7:00pm-9:00pm on the last Tuesday of every month

  • Communication and Organizational Skills
  • Program Planning, Implementation and Evaluation
  • Financial Management (Budgeting)

Time Commitment:

One year minimum.
